What with all these new mods cropping up at random and whatnot, it makes me wonder - what is it that they are actually, you know, moderating? There doesn't seem to be any specific rules for the forum anywhere - does that just mean the mods and/or admin are allowed to just warn (etcetera) anybody they like for... anything they like? Sounds like a bit of a dictatorship to me!

But yeah, unless I'm being totally blind to something that is dancing in front of me naked while quite profusely existing, then there should probably be a set list somewhere so that people know what they are/aren't allowed to do, I guess. Sure things like "DON'T BE SPAMMING NOW, MY SONNY BOY" are a given, but there are slightly more intricate rules which differ between some sites - like, to what extent is off-topickness allowed? How much content needs to be in a post for it to be considered valid?

I may be being boring. But whatever! Interpret as you will.

We are currently discussing rules as you posted this. Keep a look out for them.

RE: Rules...? - firechao - 04-28-2010 03:48 PM

yeah I 'll be posting them when I can be bothered...

Also, all forums are dictatorships. since when can staff be elected? Tongue

RE: Rules...? - Mystic - 04-28-2010 07:22 PM

There is no democracy. Just a list of people FireChao has allowed to post.

RE: Rules...? - firechao - 04-29-2010 03:03 PM

although it may be an idea - shall I make another thread asking what people want the rules to be?

RE: Rules...? - Mystic - 04-29-2010 03:06 PM

Maybe, but I think it'd be better to just post what you've got here and let people suggest changes.

The rules so far Wrote:The Four Triads
Relatively common-sensical really, but it's best to ensure that you are all clear on what we're expecting. We're trying to keep it conscise, and thus, I have for you the rules:
  • Stay on topic - don't spam. Also try to have something interesting in each post.
  • Try to type in relatively good english.
  • Don't double post (post twice consecutively) - you can edit posts if so inclined.
Keep things reasonably kid-friendly:
  • No porn. At all. Full stop.
  • Innuendo is okay, but try not to be vulgar.
  • Don't swear excessively - we'll tolerate a little, but not aggressively.
Stay relevant:
  • Conversations may naturally drift to another subject, but if they do then it's best to start a new thread for the new subject.
  • Don't revive old threads unless you've got something really constructive to add.
  • If you want to advertise your place on the web, take it to the Advertising board.
Be nice to people:
  • Don't be insulting - No "Flaming".
  • Keep drama to a minimum. We don't like arguments.
  • Don't take things too seriously - remember that we're here to have fun.

To be honest "Don't talk about sex" has been probably been broken many a time already. If you redefined it to something about not actually talking in deep detail about, for example, forms of intercourse, then yeah.

They seem generally okay. They probably just need a bit more precision here and there.

RE: Rules...? - Harry - 04-30-2010 07:38 PM

All good, I agree with Callum about the whole sex topic, however.

RE: Rules...? - firechao - 05-03-2010 11:38 AM

that point has been changed

RE: Rules...? - Will - 05-13-2010 08:11 PM

This may be a bump again, but it doesn't matter. I think we should mention that while younger people can join. Generally the content may be 13+, or something. Either way you need to add the rules soon!
